LO3 Evaluation of Production

1) How well did you work in a group? give specific examples

I think overall in a group we worked well we all had our own little jobs and roles to do which we all did to the best of our abilities and try really hard. However I and warda feel we didn't get enough help from our other member of the group sabeena as she was hardly in and of sick. Me and Warda feel if we had a bit longer to do our production work then we would at least get better possible mark or even get higher than we want. Over all our group worked well together and our group skills were good but could have been much better.

2) What difficulties did you overcome in the production of the video and how did you overcome them?

There was many difficulties we had to overcome while doing our production work. For example our editing didn't go to well as our scenes were quite short and not as long as each was meant to be. Lightings we don't have in our school so we had to use natural normal lighting and it was quite hard to film.

3) What have you learned from your audience feedback?

From the audience feedback we learned that we could have done better with having a huge range of different angles being shot as well as that making our video longer and more dramatic. Other feedback we gathered told us we worked well as a team of two in editing due to the situations we ended up in.

LO3 Annotated PRINT SCREEN of edit timeline

Annotated PRINT SCREEN of edit timeline
(each individual must show how they contributed to the edit decisions)

Here is a screen shot that was taken when we was editing our video. In this screen shot I am adding the music we had chosen to the specific area of the video. The reason why I did this was so I could test myself to see if i got the hang of editing.

This is the screen shot that was also taken while the editing was in process. The Moriarty of the editing was done by one of our group member as she was more aware of how to use such effects and helped make our video a good start.

LO3 Be able to apply single camera techniques in a production

Production roles
(who worked as director, actors, camera operator, editor etc.)

Warda - Director/actor/editor
Minha - Filming/Photographs/Camera Operator
Sabeena -  Filming/Camera Operator

Production meetings and production log
(individuals must show evidence of their contribution to the production)

Diary Log

Throughout the whole unit of single camera my group and me worked together and planned everything that we wish to apply on our video. We all came up with many different ideas and then we decided properly which idea mixed seemed better.
We came up with the idea where we will have a culture girl where she is under a lot of pressure and at a point it gets too much for her where she tried to run away but then gets hit by a car.

There is a mixture of ideas that Warda and I came up that we both combined together. Sabeena helped us give some ideas as well as doing the idea board layout.
With all the work we have done we did together but in most of the work I added a bit more of my own details in. I uploaded the location and cast photos more understanding and myself that I took to make my work look clearer.

Scene 2:
Aisha's stressed out and someone keeps calling her in school, she gets upset and doesn’t answer the calls, this is set in Sidney stringer school up in 6th form.

Scene 3:
This scene has been shot in Foleshill. Aisha is walking home in the dark as soon as she gets into her house Aisha and her mother have a talk about her getting married.
Mother (Sidra): you got me all excited, teenagers like you! There married, they’re married and have two kids. What are you looking at me like that? Listen I'm being serious Aisha, like seriously you should get married I have the perfect idea of a beautiful marriage. You need to have a sustained, you need to be in a new environment, and your old enough and I think that you’re ready.

Aisha: Mum don't OK i want to stay in education, I want to make something of my life, please don’t get me married off at this age, and please I'm begging you.

Scene 4:
In this scene Aisha is worried about how her fathers going to return from Africa in two days with a proposal, she is storming off and as she is running out of the house, she tries to cross the main road; without looking at what’s coming…

The car knocks Aisha over, and the camera fades away and the screen turns white indicating the ending of the story.

Props list

We will also be using Props;

Fake blood -  fact that the main character Aisha has been hit
Pen/Books – this is to show she’s in school and is having a hard time doing work
Table
Mobile – lover trying to win her by constantly bothering her

Character profiles

(Personality traits, background profile and costumes worn by character)
Aisha- she is the main character (she is very perky person and has a very bad attitude when it comes to her parents). She doesn’t wish to hurt them so she does everything they will without a complain. She wears the Islamic clothing (Jubbah and Hijab). She keeps herself to herself and tries hard not to let anyone get involved with her in any way.

Sidra- is the other of Aisha (is very shy and listen to every word her husband says to her). Sidra and her husband Hakim have a marriage where he has all the say and only he can be right and is always right according to her and him, so this means she is easily persuaded by her husband to do what he thinks is right and she does this without a question

LO2 Recce photos of your chosen locations (put in WORD; annotate, justify location choices)

Recce photos of your chosen locations
(put in WORD; annotate, justify location choices)

This is the first location we used for our first scene. It was based in school where the students go and do work during their own time. The reason why we used this area is because it was colourful and a good location for the scene for the time then.

This is the same location from a different angle but the reason why couldn't use this angle is because it wasn't as good as the other angle of filming and also it looked quite busy. Other angle of filming and also it looked quite busy.

This is the a little kitchen area in the student 6 form room which we was thinking of using but didn't because it got quite busy at times and we wont able to use it at the times we needed.

This is the location we wanted to use for the first scene but then changed our minds as it was surrounded by load of children and we wont able to hear each other or film without people interfering.

We decided to use the stairs while she leaves to go home but we find it hard to film from the angle we was at as it was to hard to film.

This is the hallway we used for Aisha to walk across in a rush our scene 2 was filmed here.

This is the house we used for the main character to call home.

This is the area we used the actor to be hit by a car.

LO2 Casting photographs and justifications

Casting photographs and justifications

Casting auditions for Aisha ( main character

Sonbul
This is one of the cast we auditioned for Aisha (Main character) but she wasn't able to do the acting as well as we hoped.

Amirah
Amirah was also auditioned for being Aisha but her acting wasn't as well as we were looking for so for this reason we weren't able to take her on for the role.

Sarah – Jeena
We auditioned Sarah for Aisha but she wasn't as confident to do some of the scenes we had to shot. So for this reason we wont able to take her along.

Warda
Warda was the chosen main character as she was most confident and her acting was what we was looking for.

Casting auditions for Sidra ( Mother

Kadijo
We auditioned Kadijio as Sidra (mother) however she looked a bit to young for the role so we had to decline her.

Marian
We auditioned Marian as well for being Sidra (Mother) but she didn't look old enough to be the mother of Aisha and didn't look any similar to her and it didn't look as real.

Amal
Amal was perfect for the role of Sidra as she was the younger sibling to Warda but she looked much older and it looked real as they are family.

LO2 Treatment a pitch to a TV channel

Treatment – a pitch to a TV channel

(SELL YOUR IDEA _ quick synopsis of narrative and character appeal; target audience; time slot; channel)

Our group sat together and started the treatment but I added more of my own details to it.

In our story there is a young girl aged 18 and she is going though a lot in life, with exams; keeping up with her school life and home life however she has also got a personal problem where a guy who really likes her is trying to win her but because she has so much going on in her life she isn’t willing to let him into her life. The story is based on real life situations, which most young girls or even boys are face to face with. The name of our group single camera production is “Stepping into the Light”. We thought that this title would suit the story because it indicates to the viewer that this story is about coming out of your shell and standing up for what you think is the right thing to do. The thing that makes you happy

The story is set in an African household, we thought our story would be more effective if we showed our audience a different side of a typical kind of environment that would be normal advertised to the general public and around globally. So this single camera production will be based on perceiving a different type of view on a stereotypical kind of story that our audience would expect, this will make them more eager to watch our short single camera production. Our single camera production has a bit of a twist to it, we tried to come up with a conclusion to our story and we thought the best way to do that would be to have a dramatic cliff hanger leaving the audience wanting to see more; so we decided as a group that we would convey a message that would really question the audience is understanding on life and how precious it is.

Our target audience is mainly aimed at teens, but anyone can watch it. We decided our main target audience would be teens because we think this type of drama would interest our target audience, which would mean that they would want to carry on watching our single camera production which would mean that we get more views and becomes more popular, the more popular our single camera production gets the more sponsors so our crew can carry on making 'Stepping Into The Light'.

LO2 Synopsis

Synopsis

(Overview of story – generally what happens – how does the story unfold? Who are the heroes/ villains/ damsel/ hero’s helper/ dispatchers?)
Overview:
·      A purpose or objective; to make people, and our target audience aware of the situations like the one we are illustrating, happen and need to be taken seriously
·      A target audience; our target audience would have to be girls, who are teenagers
·      Subjects; marriage, life is short, and decision-making
Our single drama “stepping into the light”, target audience of our single drama is teenagers but this storyline is mainly aimed at girls as they can relate to it also parents who depend on their children in becoming something high in the environment as well as being a role model and a “Show of Prize” to other parent in the same community.   We think that our audience will want to watch this single drama because they will relate to it; also their parents might think about the difficult situations they could put their children, this drama series was also built to make parents and careers aware of the difficult situations they could put their children in; in the near distant future. This drama will be a good example to those parents that force their children so much they end up losing them or destroying them. This becomes a very hard situation for both the parents and the individual that it is happening upon.

There are 3 different types of subjects in our single drama one would be

· Decision making
We came up with the idea with this being on of the subjects we could have used because in our storyline, the main character and the sub characters a faced with many decisions that they have to face in order to settle an agreement and for things to go back to normal.
·  Marriage
This subject links in with the main storyline, which is to do with a young girl getting forced into marriage at a very young age.
·   Life is too short
We came up with subject when we thought of having the idea of showing our intended audience how sort life can be and that we should make every second count.

Our story has todrov’s theory which tells us that in our story has an

·      Equilibrium
In our story our equilibrium would have to start off with a girl, named Aisha who lives as an only child and is living in a happy and loving environment with her family until it all goes wrong for her

·      Disruption of Equilibrium
One day she over hears her parents talking and they find out some information that could change their perspective on their daughter’s life, this leads them to make drastic measures; her parents come to the conclusion of her getting married off and staring a new life.  A letter was posted in their letterbox, which showed pictures of her; her father comes across these pictures

·      Recognition of the disruption
Then Aisha finds out that her family know about her being cyber bullied online by random people she doesn’t know, she feels ashamed, this then means that she has to figure out what she should do to convince them not to get her married off, she tries to explain to them that she wants to carry on studying and go into university and starting working.

·      Attempt to repair the damage
She talks to her parents and then her parents decide that she has no choice when it comes to her getting married off, this leads to them getting angry and arguing and creating conflict between the family, this then leads to her running away

·      New Equilibrium
As she is running away, she tries to cross the street, then gets run over by a care. Her parents watch her get hit by the car. This leads to her dying, which creates a new equilibrium.
